End of July Changelog

By admin

We have implemented a lot of features, bugfixes and site improvements in July (this changelog includes changes implemented since 2026-07-08), so we’d like to provide a detailed changelog in one place.

My/User Collections:

  • The platform now indicates which books are owned (and series, if you own at least one book from it). You can also filter by ownership status and content type (volume/chapter).
  • The (website-only, for now) in-collection book addition modal:
    • filters out volumes/chapters already in the collection.
    • lets you select all volumes/chapters from a given series.
    • lets you filter for books you own (and defaults to only showing books you own).
    • lets you filter by content type (volume/chapter).
  • Grouping by Series is now available inside individual collections.
  • The add-to-collection modal from the book details page, and the multi-select add-to-collection option from the Library > History/Purchased tab now indicate if the book(s) is/are already in the collection.
  • You can now select and bulk-delete collections.

Reader:

  • The website’s reader has been revamped:
    • You can now read webtoons and listen to audiobooks.
    • Webtoon mode is now available for manga.
    • Higher quality images are now available (wherever applicable) for manga, and a quality selector has been added.
    • You can now double-click to zoom into manga, or use +/-/0 to zoom in/out/reset.
    • Pinch to zoom on mobile has been improved.

App:

  • 26.07.15:
    • Optimizations for e-ink readers: reduce or disable animations throughout the app, setting to change pages with volume buttons (physical e-ink reader buttons, Android only). Reduced animations is also respected as an OS-level accessibility setting by default
    • Added settings to toggle the system UI in the reader, keep the reader controls shown, and disable swipe for the TOC
    • Added keyboard navigation in reader
    • Prevent in-reader popups
    • Fix SSO when Chrome is not the default browser (Android)
  • 26.07.28:
    • User Collections have been added to the app (excluding the book addition modal, it will come in a future update).
    • You can now unfavorite your favorited titles by clicking on the heart icon.

Misc.:

  • You can mark individual books as read/unread on the website. (will be made available on the app soon.)
  • You can import your bookshelves from the old BookWalker Global store from your collections page (website only).
  • The Title A-Z/Z-A sort option in Collections and Library tabs now takes volume/chapter order into account.
  • For search results (including filters) and collections that contain mature content, users with the mature content visibility options disabled are now notified of the hidden items.
  • The series status (Ongoing/Complete) filter in Browse is now working properly.
  • The embedded search field now functions properly everywhere on the mobile website. (previously it only functioned as expected in Browse)
  • The sort options in the Library > Favorites tab are now functioning as expected, and unimplemented sort options have been removed from the Library tabs.
  • Volume/chapter filters have been made available in regular collections (including “New Releases” and “Coming Soon”), Browse and most Library tabs.
  • A notification popup has been added if the frontend is out of date in your browser (this should help avoid certain login issues.)
  • Error messages for empty search results have been improved across the board.

Known issues + misc. notes:

  • The User Collection book addition modal’s series view does not filter out series whose entire/applicable contents are already in the collection (due to current technical limitations) – we are looking into improving this in the near future.
  • The “Newest” sort option in the Library > Favorites tab filters by when the series itself was added to the BookWalker platform. If you wish to sort by titles with the most recent released books, use the “Updated latest” sort option.
  • We currently allow using the bookshelf data migration link multiple times, and if any of the to-import collections already conflict (name-wise) with an existing collection a duplicate (with ” (imported)” added to the name) will get created (/overwritten for >2 tries).

Upcoming features/improvements:

  • Historical Reading Completion import.
  • “Coming Soon from your Library” in Library > Upcoming.
  • Persistent (client-side) sort options and view modes (Series vs. Vol/Ch.) in most Library pages, including in User Collections.
  • Manual drag-and-drop re-ordering inside User Collections.
